We first met Gary and David on an NCL cruise around the tip of South America from Santiago, Chile to Buenos Aires in early 2007.  They found themselves in the midst of retired airline employees and spouses very independent and eager to explore.  Mira and Tom; Anita and David: Leanne and Rodger and Gary and David, we truly had a fun time.  What started as "Cruise Buddies" for Leanne and I developed into strong friendship as visits were exchanged and other trips shared.  A return to Buenos Aires, a cruise from Istanbul to Barcelona and visits to the Northwest.  Gary and David bought a house in Lincoln City, OR near the beach.  Gary was a true gentleman of the old school with character and style.  We shall miss his wit and laughter but treasure our memories of our times together.

Gary practiced the golden rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."  He was one of the most caring people I've ever met.  We worked together at TJ Middle for several years. He loved making cakes for our office birthday parties.  We had so much fun celebrating his "50th" birthday. The Shooting Stars Family gave him a birthday basket filled with "white castles". He was a wonderful educator, loved his family and partner, antiques, Cherokee Triangle and life. Every day Gary wore a "smile". I have so many memories and will always thank God for placing Gary in our lives.  You, dear friend, taught the world to love each other unconditionally.  Love in Christ, Gwenie

I have such fond memories of Gary. We met at Fern Creek High School my first year of teaching. But the memories that stand out the most are those crazy times we shared at Thomas Jefferson Middle. I know that brought a smile to your face. Gary, you were a wonderful, intelligent, and caring person. I loved your smile, your wit, your sense of humor, your style and especially your determination. I am so glad our paths crossed.

I met Gary in 1998, when my partner and I moved to Louisville. Although we left the area in 2000, we kept in touch over the years. My life is better having known you, Gary. I'll see you again someday.

We had the good fortune of meeting Gary, one fall evening at his home, when another teacher friend, held a coming out dinner party at his home. Little did I realize at the time, how our lives would take us to many places, and the many dinner parties that we were included in at his lovely homes. As many folks have eluded to, memories will live on, and they surely will with us. WE all look forward to the day, that you greet us, and tell us all about those great bargains that you have found in heaven......

Gary and I meet on a blind date on Feb. 14th 1990. We where almost never apart. We enjoyed, for the most part everything together, antiquing, flea-markets, world travel, and road trips in the USA. Gary was the most honest,loving and giving person in my life. Gary and I where told about is cancer, around 2 or 3 years into our relationship, We never thought we'd make it to 5 years, but Gary would never give in, to his cancer. We made it to just a little over 21 years with the help of some great Dr's and nurses along the way, not to mention all the love and support of loving friends and family. Now Gary is on the real trip of His life and I hope He is having the best time ever.

Dear Dave,
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Although my daughter and I didn't know Gary for very long, he quickly became a great friend. He was always so sweet and generous to us. We miss you Gary...tell Sweetpea we said Hi.

Gary is my uncle.  However, he was more of father to me.  He raised me well and taught me everything a real father would.  He emphasis on education has helped me to succeed in life.  I love him very much and will miss him.  The memories I have of him will always put a smile on my face.

Gary was a terrific person, dedicated to his profession and his family.  We worked together and he was always a gracious host holding get-togethers at his home and organizing outings for his friends.  His too-early death is a real loss to his community.

Gary was a great guy!  We worked together at Southern Middle School, and he helped me transition there -along with my move to the Highlands in Louisville.  He was a great friend and colleague during those years.  His home was always a warm and inviting place for his many parties and gatherings.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, especially David, Terry, and Dean.  Rest in peace, Gary.

Gary was my senior English teacher and High-Q team coach at Seneca -- I respected him highly and enjoyed his class.  He will be missed.

Gary was a delightful man.  We worked together at Southern Middle, bowled (if you want to call it that!) on the Lou. Teachers' League and had get-togethers at his home.  Gary was a compassionate person and a dedicated educator who cared for the students.  May he RIP.
