

Gene Raymond Kelton, 86, of Louisville, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family during his last breath after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born on August 25, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky Gene was the son of the lates’ Foster Freeman Kelton & Mamie Styles. He was retired from TARC, leaving a great legacy behind him. As a Union Leader and Business Agent, he was able to help provide a pension for the workers along with other amenities. Gene served his nation with pride and honor, in the United States Army during the end of th e Korean War. Gene loved to play golf, loved his family, his country and his Lord. Although, He & Joyce didn’t have a home church, they followed in the word and lived by example, studying daily with Shepherds Chapel Bible Study.
Besides his parents, Foster Freeman Kelton & Mamie Styles Jolly; his step – father, Thomas Jolly; brothers, Thomas Leon Jolly, Wesley Kelton & Leonard Kelton; wife, Geneva Kelton; and daughter, Debra Peyton, precede Gene in his passing.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Bobbie Jackson; special companion, Joyce; children, Terry (Steve) Geltmaker, Diana (Ed) Cozzens Tarhi, Tom (Lisa) Kelton, Gary (Donna) Kelton & Tony (Maribell) Kelton; 15 – grandchildren, Brandon, Melissa, Rebecca, Kristy, Steve, Devin, Robbie, Emily, Ryan, Ricky, Brittany, Brad, Gene, Alex & Sam; 12 – great – grandchildren, Shelby, Tyler, Ashton, Jacob, Tremain, Ethan, Gabbie, Dakota, Cheyenne, Siena, Lydia & Charlee Sue; 5 – great – great – grandchildren, Evelyn, Carson, Kensley, Shelby & Matthew; plus, a host of other relatives & friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the Heady Memorial Chapel of the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home - Okolona Chapel. Gene will be laid to rest following the service in Resthaven Memorial Park with Ryan Kelton, Brandon Geltmaker, Devin Kelton, Gene Cozzens, Brad Cozzens & Steve Woods serving as Pallbearers & Robbie Kelton serving as an Honorary Pallbearer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the family will receive extended family and friends from 10:30 a.m. until the Funeral Hour of 1:30 also at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home - Okolona Chapel.
