George lived as he believed, God first, then family and then our country. He was devoted to his wife of 67 years, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He lived his life passionately, loved deeply, and was an example of honesty and integrity to all who knew him.
In 1953, George proudly enlisted to serve his country in the US Army. After serving in the Army, he became one of the youngest licensed electricians in Kentucky. He was one of the founding members of the Independent Electrical Contractors Association (IEC). For 50 years he put his heart and soul into running Clore Electric. In addition to being the driving force behind Clore Electric, he developed multiple commercial properties in Jefferson County and subdivisions in Oldham County and was an active partner in Oldham Farms Development.
Despite his many professional achievements, George would have said his greatest legacy was his family. He shared his interests with them, including hunting, enjoying nature, and observing wildlife. He had a passion for flying and, at a young age, he earned his private pilot’s license. Later in his life that joy of flying included hot air ballooning. George was the owner and pilot of the Napa Balloon for several years and flew it in many races throughout Kentuckiana becoming a familiar face in the ballooning community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mattie Clore, and his siblings, Sam, Dick, Buddy, Dan, Luke, Martha, Sara, Pat, Amney, and Doris.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Mildred Winkler Clore; their daughters, Robin Hancock (Thomas) and Donna Brehl Berryman (Robert); grandchildren Emily Veeneman (Brian), Austin Roberts, Kaitlin Upton (William), Phillip Brehl (Ashley), Michael Brehl (Nikki) and George Brehl. George is also survived by his sister Margaret Harrison, and great grandchildren, Leyton, Henry, Georgia, Celia, Niko and baby girl Brehl “arriving in 2023”.
Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 3-8pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village.
