GARDNER, GEORGIA M., 92, of Louisville, passed from this life on Thursday February 12, 2009, at Franciscan Health Care. She was the former Georgia Walter, a member of the 55 Plus Club, and one of the founding members and oldest surviving member of St. James United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles A. Gardner Jr.; and daughter, Carol Ann Carlin. A sister Alene Farrington. She is survived by a son, Charles A. Gardner III; a sister, Norma Kittle; grandchildren, Bonny and Kenneth Carlin, and Christopher and Michael Gardner; and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Gardner's life was held noon Monday at St. James Church, 3535 Taylor Blvd., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation was at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd., 2-8 p.m. Sunday and at the church after 11 a.m. Monday. Memorial gifts may be made to her church's memorial fund.
