

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Oneida Magdalene.
Jerry is survived by daughters Betty Schnur, of Louisville, and Lotta Howell, son-in-law Harold Howell, both of Jupiter, Florida, and son Jim Roth, of Purcellville, Virginia; a brother, Robert Roth, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and a sister Betty Jean Phillips, of New Albany, Indiana. Jerry was the grandfather of Harold, Ray, Larry, Deborah, and Becky, and the great-grandfather of David, Emilie, and Matthew. He was also the grandfather-by-marriage to Cathy, Alan, Lou Ann, and soon-to-be to Lori. Jerry was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church
Jerry was born in Huntingburg, Indiana in 1923. He was a graduate of New Albany High School and the University of Louisville Speed Engineering School. Jerry was a veteran of World War II, serving with C Company 359th Engineer Regiment in the European theater. He retired in 1984 after a career with RCA Corporation in Indianapolis, moving to Louisville in 2003. He remained very active throughout retirement, enjoying travel, live music and theater, and cooking, and a avid sports fan. He was a gardener and an accomplished artist in stained glass. His capabilities as a handyman and woodworker were greatly appreciated not only by relatives, but also by a wide extended family.
A celebration of his love, faith, and caring life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 6 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Gerard Drive, with interment in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at Arch L. Heady & Son-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, KY 40206
