Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Lucas Jr.

Jerry was born on July 14th, 1976, in Louisville, Kentucky, and he spent his life rooted in the community he called home. He was a loving, funny, and thoughtful man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him. Jerry lived simply and sincerely, and he took great pride in the life he built with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny Lucas; his sons, Kobey Lucas and Conner Lucas; his sister, Cindy (Kevin) Kilkelly; his niece, Sabrina Lucas; his great-nephew, Brantley Henson; his aunt, Diane (Floyd) Hymer; his father-in-law, Ted Houchins; and his brother-in-law, Michael Houchins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Lucas Sr.; his mother, Cathy (Heggie) Lucas; his grandmother, Velvie Lee Hines; and his grandfather, William Leon Heggie.

Jerry worked as a salesman for Derby City Environmental, where he was known for his dependable nature and easygoing personality. He approached his work with the same honesty and care that he brought to every part of his life. Those who knew him appreciated his sense of humor and the genuine way he connected with others.

Above all else, Jerry loved spending time with his family. He especially cherished his wife and his two sons, and he was very proud of them. He was a devoted father who made time to coach his sons’ little league baseball teams, spending many summers on the field encouraging them and being present for their games. These moments meant a great deal to him, and they reflected the kind of father he was. In addition to the love he held for his family, Jerry had a special bond with Brody, his beloved dog, who was a constant source of companionship and comfort.

Jerry also enjoyed fishing whenever he could, though opportunities were not as often as he would have liked. Even so, he found joy in the simple things and appreciated quiet moments spent doing what he loved. His life was marked by devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a kind spirit that will be remembered by all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will carry forward the memory of his love, his humor, and his thoughtful nature. Jerry’s life was a testament to the value of family, loyalty, and the everyday kindness that leaves a lasting impression.

Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady & Son-Cralle Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40206, on September 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral at the same location starting at 1:00 pm.

Immediately following the funeral service, a committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205, at 2:00 pm.
