He was retired from American Source.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Lyda Smith; sons, Frank L. and Timothy P. Smith; and brother, Charles Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Smith, Children, Belinda Gagle (Richard), Mike Griggs (Stephanie), Ronnie Waters, Billy Griggs (Kelly) and Betty Vest (Buster); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Atwell and Martha Milby; and brother, David Smith.
A celebration of Gilberts's life will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at O. D. White & Sons Funeral Home with interment at St. Stephan's Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday at 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
