Gus was a graduate of Manual High School and retired after 40 years from the US Postal Service. He was a faithful member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and A.H.E.P.A.
Gus is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen Gianacakes; children, George Gianacakes (Maria), Panayiota "Pixy" Jones (Ernie) and James Gianacakes; grandchildren, Alexandra, Eleni and Seraphina Gianacakes, Elena, Angelo and Apollo Jones and Dimitri Gianacakes; and siblings, Mae Demos, Tom Gianacakes and Rev. William Gaines; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A service honoring the life Gus will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Evergreen Funeral Home.
