Harold J Burnett

Harold “Smiley” Burnett was born to the late Lee and Mary Burnett on September 13, 1934 in Steubenville, Kentucky. He went home to be with his Lord on May 20, 2024 at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, Marlene, of 68 years, three children: daughter Deborah Thompson (Rock), son Larry Burnett (Patsy), and daughter Kathy White; and his brother Ed Burnett (Judy), eight grandchildren: Christopher Thompson (Bernadette), Katherine Thompson (Steve), Benjamin Thompson (Kayla), Samantha Perry (Travis), Shelby Compton (Kenny), Savannah Burnett, Lucy Alegria (Jake), and Lloyd White; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Harold retired from Delta Air Lines in 1992, after 33 years of service. After his career at Delta Air Lines, he stayed busy building veterinary anesthesia machines for 20 years with DRE in Middletown, Kentucky. He was a lifelong member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he served in many roles including as a Deacon.

He loved to be active and golf was a favorite pastime along with attending drag car races with his son. His smile was contagious and he never met a stranger. He will be missed many.

A visitation for Harold will be held Monday, May 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A burial will occur Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218.
