Harold Franklin Dever (86) – born June 17, 1938, in Louisville, KY – passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Harold, known as Dever by many, retired from GE where he worked for many years, most recently as an assembly line manager. He served in the Army as a young man and was proud to call himself a veteran.
He loved restocking his bird feeder, restoring old cars (e.g., 1937 Buick), Nascar and football / basketball (go Cards!), eating chocolate, watching nature shows, solving puzzles (an engineer at heart!), line dancing, and volunteering at Fern Creek Highview United Ministries, to name just a few. His family will remember him for his excellent sense of humor, sage advice, unique appreciation of art, witty remarks, great hugs, and general love of life. He was an avid Christian and an active and beloved member of Fern Creek Christian Church where he will be especially missed by his Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, son Mark, and brother Robert Allen. He is survived and deeply loved by daughter Jill (Vince), sister Joann, daughter-in-law Ann, granddaughters Rachel (Darren) and Rebecca, friend Sherry Clark, several nieces and nephews, too many friends to name, and his beloved puggle (aka 4-legged girlfriend) Brandy.
The funeral service will be held at 10AM on Monday, August 19th at Evergreen Funeral Home (4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY). Visitation will be from 12PM – 8PM on Sunday, August 18th at Evergreen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fern Creek Highview United Ministries at 9300 Beulah Church Road 40291 in his memory.
