Born in October 1942, to Esther and Harold S. Donnelly, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania who preceded him in death, Jack's life was a testament to his enduring spirit and his commitment to excellence in every endeavor.
Jack's journey began in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised. Later he moved to Corning, New York and then to Houston, Texas where he met the love of his life, Carmella "Connie" Barone-Donnelly. Together they moved to Kentucky in 2008 where they created a home filled with love and laughter, shared with their beloved four-legged children, Lola, Rocky, and Molly. Jack's family extended to his cousins, Bill (Sherry) Williams and Nancy Bonning, as well as his brothers-in-law, Robert (June) Barone and Ray Barone, and his cherished nieces and nephews in Texas.
A man of intellect and innovation, Jack attended Elmira College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. He then attended Cornell University with his Great Dane Samson, for two years in Engineering. His academic achievements led him to Corning Glass Works, in the TSD as a Manufacturing Engineer, which led him to Houston, Texas where he retired from Anheauser Bush as the Project Engineer. Jack's dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his country. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he received numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Marine Award, the Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge, the Pistol Expert Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. His time in the service was a source of great pride, and he carried the discipline and honor he learned there throughout his life.
Jack's involvement with the community extended to his role as a 32nd Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner. He participated on the Transportation Committee for the Shriners, transporting children to doctors appointments and hospitals. His service to others was a cornerstone of his character, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Beyond his professional and service accomplishments, Jack was an athlete of remarkable talent while in the Marines. He was an alternate for the Military Olympic Wrestling Team and was inducted into Lake Lehman Wrestling Club Hall of Fame on January 13, 1996. His prowess on the wrestling mat was matched by his skill on the football field, where he played left guard for the Lake Lehman Football Team and was the number one wrestler on the Lake Lehman Wrestling team. Jack's love for music also shone through as he played the drums for the Lake Lehman Band, showcasing his diverse talents and passions.
Those who knew Jack would describe him as courageous and selfless. His bravery was evident not only in his military service but also in his everyday actions. He approached life's challenges with a quiet strength and a determination to succeed, always putting the needs of others before his own. Jack's selflessness was the thread that wove through the tapestry of his life, touching all who had the privilege of knowing him.
