

James “Harold” Groce, 85, of Louisville, entered into rest on Friday, February 14, 2025 at his home. Harold had retired from being a schoolteacher in Jefferson County Public Schools and also as a mechanic at the family-owned Shell Station next to Southern High School. He served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Harold loved gardening and playing his guitar.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline J. and Hobert T. Groce; brother, Wendell Groce; son Brad Groce; uncles, Stanford Johnson, and Denvil Johnson.
Left to cherish Harold’s memory is his sister, Lisa McMackin; nieces and nephew, Royce Groce (Chelsea), Wendy Groce-Smith (Brent), Holli Hayes (Dru); 4 great nieces and nephews, Declan, Levi, Ella, Everleigh; many extended family and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel, 8519 Preston Hwy, 40219 on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 2pm until 8pm. His services will continue on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Sunny Point General Baptist Church, 2537 Sunny Point Rd. 42210, in Edmonson County, KY, with visitation beginning at 10am at the church, until the funeral hour of 12 pm and then interment following in the church cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Sunny Point General Baptist Church.
