

Harold is a retired Navy veteran after serving from 1947-1976. He also retired from Jefferson County Public Schools. Harold was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of St. Stevens Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #20, and Naval Enlisted Reserve Association.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Pifer; parents, Harold & Loretta Pifer; and brother, Eugene Pifer.
Harold is survived by his children, Linda Martin (Gordon) and Glenn Pifer (Dixie); grandchildren, Heather Morrow, Stacy Pifer, Jason Pifer; great-grandchild, Kaitlin Morrow; siblings, David Pifer (Irene) and Barbara Fitzgerald (Fritz); step-grandchildren, Robby, Robin, Scott, Jeremy, and Amy; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor the life of Harold will be held at 2pm on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Evergreen Funeral Home with Pastor Kerri McFarland officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiation will be from 2-8pm on Wednesday and from 12-2pm on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Hosparus of Louisville.
