Harold Glen Sanders Jr., 71, was born on December 17, 1946, passed away in Palliative Care at Baptist Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Tallahassee, FL and the eldest son of Dr. Harold G. and June Sanders. Harold was a graduate of Westport High School Class of 1965. He played and lettered in Varsity football, track, and wrestling. He attended Miami Dade Junior College and was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church. Harold was a master mason of Lyndon Masonic Lodge 960 F & AM, Louisville Scottish Rite, and Kosair Shrine. He was a past president of Kosair Sand Bugs, Yoshi Club, and Bullitt County Shrine Club, and was Commander in Chief of Swords of Bunker Hill. He was also a member of the 32 Club, Kosair Motorcorps, Director Staff Unit, Bullitt County Motorcorps, the “Q” #20, Lyndon Elks Lodge #2052, Lyndon AARP, Kentuckian H.O.G.S. Association, a Kentucky Colonel, Westport High School Alumni Club, and LG&E Retirement Club. He retired after 35 years of service at LG&E as a Gas Trouble. He belonged to IBEW #2100. He is preceded in passing by Dr. Harold G. Sanders, Mary Lou Sanders, June H. Sanders, Myrtle Simmerman, Susan S. Adkins, and Shelton E. Sanders. Harold is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen Hudson Sanders; sons, H. Glen Sanders, III (Laura), and Daniel K. Sanders (Sandra); 4 grandchildren that were his source of happiness, pride and joy; Shelby, Taylor, Natalie, and Hayden Sanders; brother, Ronald Sanders (BJ) of Lumberton, NC; sister, Margaret Sanders (Mary Campbell) of Taos, NM, and a sister-in-law Vicki Hudson. He was an avid fan of UofL and FSU Seminoles and also all of his grandchildren’s sports and activities. He loved rides in his purple dune buggy and trips with his friends on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He made “Irascible” almost a lovable trait. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 11 AM at the Arch L. Heady at Westport Village with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, August 10, from 2 to 8 PM with Masonic Service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Home of the Innocents or American Cancer Society.
