Harriet was my cousin.  I really met her later in life when I was visiting my Aunt Dot Loebig.  She was so intelligent, gracious and kind.  I cherish the visits on her porch, visiting about her garden and her nieces and nephews.  
I felt like a real beginner about gardening.  She gave me some good advice and I did strive to be a better gardener.  
 I will always remember how kind, caring and helpful she was to all.  She would take my Aunt Dot to the Rosenberg family reunion.  Often she would take Aunt Dot to see the cousins.  It was just her kindness and generousity that I will always remember.    I will miss her tremendously.

Thank you Miss Korfhage for being the most excellent kind of teacher one still thinks of fondly after 50 years! Sincere condolances to the family.

Mrs. Korfhage taught my twin sister and me at Valley in 1962.  I have fond memories of her.  She made us do an insect collection, and I couldn't bring myself to stick a pin through the bugs so I glued them in.  When Mrs. Korfhage opened the box, she laughed.  She was a wonderful woman and a great teacher.  It was a privilege to know her.  My condolences to the family.

It was 1962, the Cuban Missal Crisis was in full swing and all of my friends - and I - were scared we may not see next day - week -year.  But in 10th grade biology, Miss Korfhage decided we should "hatch some eggs"  She got an egg incubator and I went to the country to retrieve some fertilized eggs that could become baby chicks.  For the next several weeks - beyond the end of the missal crisis - we focused on new life.  My friends gave me a baby shower and the word went out all over the school when the new baby chicks were hatched.  I don't recall ever seeing Miss Korfhage after graduation in 1965, but her memory has been with me forever because she was one of the most important teacher influences on my life.  Tall order since she was competing with 4 years of college and 2 years of post graduate faculty.  Oh, and in my retirement, I have become a teacher with a easy going - caring - approach just like "my Miss Korphage.

Harriet was my "garden consult" for 15 years, occasional yard sale buddie and a really neat and fun neighbor.  We  spent more time chatting and laughing about a variety of garden mistakes we made over the years. She was an inspiration to me and I appreciated her friendship.  Thankful to have transplanted some of her flowers in my yard.  I am sure she will be missed by many including me, and her family has my sincere sympathy.  Jane Pfeifer

I must admit, I didn't appreciate Ms. Korfhage when I had her in 10th grade.  She once looked out at our class and said, "You all look like a herd of cattle chewing their cud."  To this day I rarely chew gum and when I do (just to participate in a bubble blowing contest with kids), it is like aerobic exercise for my jaws--so I know she was right.  I had the privilege of spending a little "porch" time with her a few years ago when we were building sidewalks along Brownsboro Rd and again had the honor last year of doing some yard work for her when we were in the neighborhood again.  I know how much she cared for plants and many of them had gotten out of hand.  I thoroughly enjoyed spending that time together and send warm thoughts to the family.  Jean Henry Class of '78

Wonderful teacher. You will be missed. We tried to get her to attend our class reunion and set up the time and date.  I stopped to pick her up to take her to the reunion and bless her heart she forgot she was suppose to go with me! Such a sweet lady! RIP Miss Korfhage.

I was the president of the Astronomy Club in the 67-68 school year at Valley. Always loved Miss Korfhage. God give comfort to her family in this time of mourning.

Dear Family, MIss Korfhage was my biology teacher in 1958. She was a very good teacher and I always liked her very much. I am so sorry for your loss. may God comfort all of you.

Miss Korfhage was a true icon and role model of what a teacher should be. She wanted all of her students to love learning about the sciences as much as she did, and encouraged us to think outside the box.  Thank you for your service, lovely Lady.      Harriet was a long time member of Louisville AAUW:  she was very pleasant and loyal.  She will be missed.
     May she rest in peace.

Loved her classes and how she took care of the chess club.  Will always remember great days back then.

Class of 1969. Mrs. Korfhage was the absolute best and most caring teacher I ever had, she even allowed me to work in her lab my Junior and Senior year rather than have a study hall. She was a lovely person and will truly be missed. God's Peace to her family.

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was one of my favorite teachers.

My sisters and I, classes of 76, 78 and 82 all have funny, wonderful, and amazing stories about each of our times having Ms Korfhage as our teacher at Valley. I still drive by the school and remember the days watching tress being planted and the V in front of Valley..rest in peace glorious lady and know your legacy lives on in thousands.

She was one of my favorite teachers at Valley (class of 1978).  You always learned something in her class, even if it wasn't biology.

Harriet was not only a good biology teacher, she was a great traveling companion for over 55 years.  Every place we went she would always bring something back to use in her biology class.  She was always thinking about her students. Thanks, Sharon and Mary, for taking such good care of her in her home during her last days.  I will certainly miss her.

The world has lost a classy and very lovely lady. Before she took a job teaching at VHS she allowed a soldier who had served in WWII to have that position first. She was the teacher back in my day at VHS who was in charge of the beautiful "V" with all the tulips we planted on it. I thought of her every time I passed the school. I am a class of 70 graduate from Valley. I never had Miss Korfhage for biology but was in the Astronomy Club she sponsored for all 4 years at the school. She was a wonderful role model and I am glad to have known her. My she rest in peace.

Was my teacher 50 yrs ago. I have always loved science since my days at Valley and have encouraged my children to love science. One of my daughters now has a PHD in neurobiology.  I am sure her years in teaching has resulted in many pursuing science.

So sorry to hear of Ms. Korfhage's passing. She was one of my favorite teachers at Valley.

I met Miss Korfhage when I had 8th grade Biology at Valley High School.  She not only taught us biology but to love items such as rocks and trees and plants.  I am amazed at the things I still remember and I often amaze my grandchildren by correctly naming a certain leaf or rock.  Thank you Miss Korfhage.  May you rest in peace.

How special Harriet was to my Mom and Dad, Grace and Edgar Baker, over the years.  They shared many special times at Valley, family gatherings and travels together.  How blessed we were to know her.  Our prayers are with you and all the family.  You have done a wonderful job of caring for her.

I loved going to her home during the Christmas holidays. I called her the past years to see how she was doing. Always welcomeing me to vist when I'm Louisville. I live in Greensburg Ky and don't get to Louisville much.  She always showed my son a good time when he was young visting his grandmother Mildred Neblett. I miss talking to her on the phone.  Prayers are with her family.
