She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Downs and father, James Downs.
Helen was a loving, dedicated mother, and grandmother. She loved traveling to the country and spending time with family. A collector of cats and a friend to all animals big and small. She kept busy at the best and worst of times, but, never actually on time. Possessed confidence as big and bright as the sun. Helen was an avid lover of men and possessed skills in escape and jokes.
She is survived by daughters, Rose Kersey (Jay Wilkins), Penny Slade (Robert); granddaughters, Tara Eldridge, Rylee Garrett; Sisters, Lillian, Carol; and longtime companion, Bill Cannon.
Funeral service will be 10AM, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218 with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1-4PM, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven and 4-7PM, Monday, November 24, 2025.
