Helen Oleda Phipps, 83, of Louisville passed away Tuesday June 11, 2019. She was born on October 11, 1935 to the late James and Donnie (Simpson) Ralph. Helen was a former employee of the old Parkmoor Bowling, and a Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Phipps, Sr., and sons, Lester Phipps, Jr., and William Phipps. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wanda Bender (John); brothers, Robert and James Ralph (Genny); sisters, Martha Turner (Carl) and Nina Racine (Julio); 8 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs. Phipps will be held at noon Friday in the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with entombment to follow in Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Thursday.
