To Barbara, family, and friends,
May God bless you all and comfort you. You have honored Hugh with your love and support. We have many fond memories of Hugh from our days at Churchill Downs, but the visits we shared with him over the last few months will remain precious in our hearts. We've lost him way too soon. But he is now at peace, and free from pain. We light a candle for him with our love and friendship. May God bless you with the strength and courage in the days to come.

Barbara and Family, I share in your loss of Hubert and hope that as time goes by things will get better for you. Our paths crossed in early 1970 when I enlisted in HHB, 2/138th and Hubert was in SVC Btry, 2/138th. A few years later we both transfered to the 198th MP Battalion and worked together for many years until his retirement. We also had the opportunity to work together on Oaks, Derby, and Breeder's Cup projects when he worked for Churchill Downs. I can honestly say Hubert was one of the most ethical, moral, and honorable men I have met. His honesty and integrity were above reproach. As a member of Hubert's "extended family" (The National Guard), I hope your days are filled with his pleasant memories.

Mike,
I remember your Mom and Dad back in the St. Helen's day. Tough losing our parents but we are promised that we will see them again one day. You and your family are in my prayers today and I will always remember my "Elkins' family

I always enjoyed working with Hugh. He was a class act and he was nice to everyone. I will always remember him with the big cigar as he walked around the track. RIP Hugh.

Barbara and Family, I am so sorry for your loss of Hugh. I worked with him at Churchill and at Sports Spectrum for many years. He was one of those guys that no one ever had a bad word to say about him. I remember my first Derby as Program Manager I was in so over my head. He came into the admissions office and brought me one of those fancy packages of the sugared almonds he had bought from one of the vendors. He set it down on my desk and I looked up from the computer at him and he said, "I thought you deserved a treat. You look so sad." He was kind like that! Also he looked forward to our Christmas party with Security and Admissions at the SS. He just loved organizing it and his treat was always that I remembered to pick him up a can of black olives! What a spread of food and goodies for all of us to enjoy! Wonderful memories!
