He was a native of Spencer County, KY and a retired maintenance supervisor at American Air Filter. He was a member of Ninth & O Baptist Church and an avid fisherman, gardener and wood worker. There wasn't anything that Hugh couldn't build. Hugh was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Connie (Stephen) Tipton, Pamela (Wallace) Rogers, Kathy (Terry) Jump; brother, Logan (Irene) Rice; sisters, Nancy French, Frances Rose (Bill) Tate, Goldie (Nolan) Smith; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Hugh's Celebration of Life service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, KY.
