Imogene E Allen

She was born in Russell County, Kentucky on November 24, 1928, to John Will Elmore and Mary Esther Conner Elmore. She was a kind, loving, and strong woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devout Christian and her love for God was apparent in everything that she did. She enjoyed reading and travelling, especially the vacations she would take to Gulf Shores with her late husband and son, just to watch them fish. Her family remembers her courage in walking across a rope bridge with her father over the Cumberland River and leaving her job and moving back home to take care of her younger siblings after their mother had surgery. Her devotion and generosity will be greatly missed. She treasured her family deeply, and was known as a trusted confidant, loyal friend, and keeper of secrets.

Along with her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd Alexander Allen, Jr; her only son, Ronald Keith Allen; her sisters, Opal Elmore Clayton-Brewer and Ella Mae “Jackie” Elmore Boswell Kelly; her brothers, Colby W. Elmore, George R. Elmore, and Jasper L. “Dick” Elmore; her brother in law, Rex H. Kappell; and her sister in law, Sandra J. Elmore.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, JoAnn Elmore Kappell; her brother, Bill D. Elmore; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Jeannie will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM with a funeral service to follow beginning at 3:00PM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
