Susan and I spent a wonderful weekend with Ike and Barbara and family at the wedding of our nephew about 18 months ago. A truly fun and devoted couple--we will miss them and always remember Ike's graciousness and gentle humor.

Fond memories of our school days at Campbellsburg Ele and HCHS. Will never forget a brazen comment he made to our 6th grade teacher and the thank you letter I received after a class reunion and the phone conversations about other class gatherings. A gentleman with a keen sense of humor. My sympathy to the family.

I have nothing but fond memories of "Ike". We worked together at the former WKLO radio for several years back in the mid 70's. He was the morning newscaster and a great one. His radio talent was only surpassed by his calm dignity and sense of humor. We are all better people for having known Ike Smith.

I am so very sorry to hear of Ike's death. I have not seen him for over 40 years, but his wife, Barbara, was one of my very best friends in college and throughout the rest of her life. Her death just 6 months ago was so heartbreaking for me, but especially for Ike. He must have been lost without her. Today, my heart goes out to you, Jennifer and Nathan, in the loss of your Dad so soon and so young. May God bless you and give you the strength to get through the next days, weeks, and months. You can go on with the assurance that you had parents who loved each other and loved you for all the days of their lives. ?

I am so sorry to hear this. I worked with Ike for a number of years, in radio, in Louisville. We had wonderful times together. He was a very talented broadcast journalist and a treasured friend. -- Shirley O'Bryan Smith (Fairfax, VA)
