So sorry for your loss of this lovely lady. I am sorry I did not find out before her service but I will always cherish her kindness and her ability to organize an entire church inside and out! I pray you will each have warm memories of her energy, faith, and strong character. 

Iva Marvadeen Lowe
 A Godly Woman of Outstanding Character 

She was-- 
Poised without being proud, 
Stately without being stuffy, 
Loving, kind, and compassionate without being too soft, Firm without being severe, 
Her beauty radiated from the inside out. 
She could have been on the cover of a ladies’ magazine. 
She wore many hats (in addition to the red hat), such as: 
Sunday School Superintendent; First Alliance Church Alliance Women President; 
Leader of childrens' ministries (including Sunday School, summer children's programs,
 and other children's programs);
 Deaconess (in charge of the church kitchen, 
organizer of church meals and ladies’ missionary rally teas).
When she saw a need, she was not afraid to meet it.
A woman of excellence in all she did; 
Passionate in her work for her Lord; 
Always fun to be around; I never saw her in a foul mood ever;
An amazing example for us to follow.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:30, 31.

 Her works are praising her now in the heavenly gates! 


Ms. Iva was one of the first people I met in Louisville. I will never forget her big heart to serve all of us around her and her beautiful smile.  She opened her home up to me to live with her until I found a place of my own and even when I did, she came with me, rolled up her sleeves, and helped me clean it up before moving in. She cared that each person was seen and cared for and worked to make sure that everything was done with excellence. She was a remarkable woman. She was beautiful inside and out. I love Iva so much and I am so grateful to have had the privilege of knowing her and having her example in my life. I will miss her here, but I know she is rejoicing in Jesus' presence now and can't wait to see her in heaven. 

I first met Iva at First Alliance Church  over 10 years ago.  I remember thinking, "She seems so prim and proper and looks so elegant in her lovely clothes and perfect white hair.  I can only hope I am that pretty when I get older."  
I liked her then and grew to admire her. She was quite particular about everything and was creative and motivated.  She volunteered to help with everything at church; every dinner, every celebration, every party, every Missions Conference, every event---you could count on Iva's being there, all put together and ready to work.
She was especially devoted to the children's ministry at FAC.  She taught, arranged for entertainment and was the success of most every children's gatherings.  She seemed tireless and seemed to love it all. 
She was also very gracious. She had a great sense of humor and was always smiling, unless she was fussing at the kids to keep quite on the back row during church.  She was soft-spoken,  and was an encouragement to others. She radiated the love of the Lord in her words, actions and demeanor. 
Even when she began forgetting things, she accepted it and laughed about all the things she forgot.  She was the type of God-fearing woman that we all should aspire to.  Her influence will live on in the lives of every one she touched and I know Jesus smiled when He met her at the Jordan and said, "Welcome Home, Iva and well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter, now, into your Father's rest."  She will be missed but not forgotten.

Parveen and I are so saddened at the news of our dear Aunt Marvadeen’s passing.  From my boyhood days through college in Louisville, Aunt Marvadeen and Uncle Vic were an integral and influential part of my life, as were Kerry, Kevin, and sweet Janell (Price).  Parveen and I remember that on every occasion, Aunt Marvadeen was always impeccably dressed along with her natural poise, refined elegance, and sharp wit. There was also a very special time for Parveen and me when my Mom, Aunt Marvadeen, and Aunt Loretta ventured to Florida to attend our wedding, and also to visit to our new home, which was still filled with many unpacked moving boxes strewn about.  The most impactful and lasting memory of Aunt Marvadeen, that will always reside in my heart and soul, is the wonderful love, care, support, and companionship that she and Aunt Loretta gave to my Mom in her later years.  
We send our heartfelt condolences to Kerry and Kevin and their families, to Rick Price and son, and to Aunt Loretta, Aunt Sharlet and Uncle Kendall, and to all the Wilkins and Lowe family members and relatives.  May Aunt Marvadeen enjoy peace and happiness forever and be rejoined with Uncle Vic and their precious daughter Janell in Paradise. God’s blessings to all. 


Fifty seven years ago our family moved to Louisville to pastor Peoples Alliance Church in Louisville.  The family one block over would become very close to us.  Janell and I were the same age and became instant and life long friends. Wonderful memories of Mrs. Lowe trying to keep us out of mischief.  Years later Janell and I still marveled at how her mother could stop us on a dime with”the look”.  We would laugh about it.  Janell brought Mrs. Lowe to Georgia about 5 years ago to see Mother who had moved in with us.  We all sat around the piano singing hymns and laughing over many wonderful memories!! 3 of the 4 are in heaven I’m sure enjoying those songs with a heavenly choir!!! I know we will all be together again.  Saddened at the loss of Mrs. Lowe but celebrating her reunion in heaven with her other family and friends!!!

Marvadeen was my aunt. I lived with her family while attending business college after high school. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. My favorite meal she prepared was pork roast, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. She made the veil for my wedding dress after searching for the exact lace that was on my dress. She also made the bridesmaid dresses. A friend of mine said she was the Martha Stewart of her time. I recently read that while an aunt isn’t the mother, she does play a role in raising and shaping the life of her niece. Aunts serve as a safety net, a comforter, protector and supporter. Aunt Marvadeen was all those things to me. 

Although I only got to meet Aunt Marvadeen a few times, she showed how much of an impact she had to the rest of my family who knew her better. When my Mamaw Judy was in her last few months of life, Marvadeen made her feel special and loved as I’m sure any Aunt would. I know she was a light in the last few months of my mamaw’s life and I couldn’t be more grateful. 

So sorry to hear of Marvadeens passing, she was one of my babysitters when I was an infant. Last time I saw her was at Uncle Herberts viewing, she come and put her arms around me and said ‘Anita my baby’.
