He was husband to his wife Sharon Philpot for 63 years; father to Teresa Hawkins (deceased); and son Jason Philpot; grandfather to six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren.
Jakie graduated from Dupont Manual High School in 1956, then joined the Navy in1957 where he served four years as an Interior Communications Electrician, Petty Officer Second Class. He later received an Associate’s degree from JCC while working for Reynold’s Metals where he worked as a Maintenance Electrician for 33 years.
He was a member of South Louisville Christian Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
Services will be held Monday, June 8th at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, KY 40215, with visitation from 10am – 1pm, followed by the funeral service at 1pm. Interment with military honors will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
