James “Big AL”, 81 passed away at home, Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born October 07, 1930 in Louisville, KY to the late Aubrey Gilbert and Ruby Davenport Humphrey. Big AL was a Purple Heart recipient while honorably serving our country in the Korean War. He was also proud of retiring from Leggett and Platt as a maintenance supervisor.
Along with his wife, Mary Jane; he is preceded in death by his brothers, Toddy and Carl Humphrey; and sister, Margaret Humphrey.
Left to carry on his memory are sons, James L. (Debbie) and Carl R. (Becky) Humphrey; grandchildren, Leslie and Robbie; great grandchild, Corbin; sisters, Alice Hickman and Evelyn Owens (Bob); brother, Reby “Boots” Humphrey (Jean); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating the life of Big AL will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggest expressions of sympathy be made to The American Lung Association and or The Korean War Veterans Association.
