

He was a graduate of Spalding University and a member of Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity He was a retired social worker for the State of Kentucky, having worked in the Childrens and Families Division and served as a chaplain for the DAV.
Mr. Bowers was also a retired United States Army Sgt. Major, with over 26 years of service. He was an active member of South Jefferson Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the Meadowlawn Brotherhood Choir and the Kentucky Rendezvous.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Margaret Moore Bowers; children, James T. Bowers (Angelia), Jeffrey T. Bowers, Jerome A. Bowers (Treasa) and Joyce A. Bowers; grandchildren, Todd Jr. (Casey), Jontae, Whitley, Olivia, and Jared; great-grandchildren, Laila and Taisyn and several other great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday.
The family would like to request that memorial donations in James name be directed to the DAV or the American Cancer Society.
