

James Emmett Costello Jr., 86, of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014. Born in Louisville to the late James Emmett Sr. and Edna Pfeiffer Costello, Jim was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the Moose Lodge, the St. Edward Parish Choir, and the Silver Notes Choir. Jim loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, golfing, the Louisville Cardinals, and Notre Dame Football.
Jim is survived by his sister Pat Greene, brothers Tom Costello and Bill Costello (Jackie), brother-in-law Ed Stivers and sister-in-law Geri Costello; his first wife Phyllis Costello, children James Costello III (Joan), Mark Costello (Debbie), Sean Costello, Matt Costello (Sharon), Carolyn Saghaian (Mehdi), Michael Costello (Nancy), Sara Costello, and Nick Costello (Emily); his stepchildren Lisa Bolin, Pat Rota (Rob), Terri Lipari, Marla Bobrow (Bob), and Kathy Nolte; his grandchildren Whitney, Ryan, Felicia (Jason), Jessica (Matt), Kaitlin, Daniel, Jordan, Robert, Rachel, Zach, Zane, Davoud, Ellen, Thomas, William, Anne, and Nathaniel; his step grandchildren Erica, Marlena, Adam, and Will; and his great grandchildren Owen, Aubrey, and Leah.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Alene Nolte Costello, his siblings Joan Klapheke (Frank), Betty Stivers, and Bob Costello, sisters-in-law Marion Costello and “Sis” Costello, and his stepson Michael Nolte (Bonnie).
A celebration of Jim's life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Jeffersontown, with visitation from 3-8 p.m. Monday, October 27, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentucky.
