

He was born August 12, 1917 in Tennessee. He was an L & N fireman and engineer from 1941-1979. He graduated from Dupont Manual High school in 1936 where he played football. He was a member of the Marysville Indiana Christian Church and also a former member of South Louisville Christian Church and Shively Christian Church. He was a 65 year member of the Suburban Lodge #740 F & AM.
Preceded in death by his parents, William Tipp Crockett and Leta Major Crockett Showalter; and his wife, Verna Carr Crockett.
Survived by his daughter, Valeria White (Melvin); son, David W. Crockett (Anna Faye); one granddaughter, Valerie Neat (Greg); three grandsons, Lee White, Mark White (Kris) and Michael White (Tara); eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Zeke, Abbie, Mason, Ava, Brady, Jake and Olivia; and sister-in-law, Ella Peek.
Funeral service is Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the O.D. White & Sons Funeral Home, with interment Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic service will be held Monday at 7 p.m.
