James E. Davis, 87, passed away on October 1, 2018. He was born on September 27, 1931, in Mt. Sherman, Ky., to the late W. Everett and Marie B. Davis. He graduated from Buffalo High School in LaRue County in 1952 and immediately answered the call to serve his country during the Korean War as part of the the Hq Det 66 Ord Bn. He was a member at Mt. Moriah Church. He was also a watch care member of Eastern Parkway Baptist Church. James gave 38 years of his life to Building 5 at General Electric. He was a member of Suburban Masonic Lodge 740, as well as Eastern Star 154.
James is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Margie Davis; a daughter, Kathy (John) Patrick; 2 granddaughters, Jackie (Greg) Adams and Veronica (Matt) Shepherd; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law.
A service to celebrate Jim "Big John" will take place at Arch L. Heady Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Boulevard, on Friday at 11 am with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West with full military honors. The family will accept guests at the funeral home to visit on Thursday from 12 pm- 8pm.
