James “Jake” Franklin Jacobsen Jr. March 27, 1933 - January 9, 2021

James “Jake” Franklin Jacobsen Jr. 87 of Estero FL passed away on January 9, 2021. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Preceded in death by the love of his life Wilma (May) Jacobsen his wife of 60 years, his parents, brother and a great granddaughter.

Survived by his 9 children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

An avid Cornhusker fan, Jake loved life and he loved people. His gift was his ability to connect with others. He could start a conversation with a total stranger and always find a common thread. He was a kind, honest and gentle man. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

He loved to travel and planning trips to visit his children and grandchildren. He never visited empty handed, bringing a gift picked just for you.

A loving father and grandfather he made sure every child knew they were special, valued and loved. He was a father to many and a role model to all.

His heart shattered the day his beloved wife left this earth, today she welcomed him home.

As my memory turns back the pages, I can see the happy tears we had before. Now the love that kept this old heart beating, Has been shattered by the closing of the door. There goes my reason for living…..

My heart is broken, I have lost both my beacon (dad) and my compass (mom) in such a short time. I feel adrift and all alone without you. You were my hero, my daddy, my champion and the guide for which I measured all other men. I miss you so much. Devastated.

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me

I will miss you forever, I will miss you daddy till the last breath I take. You were the man who showed me what unconditional love was. My hero, my knight in shining armor, my Santa, my daddy my friend. My heart is broken in a million tiny pieces and I will never be the same. You were my beacon and mom was my compass, I am lost without you both.
