In addition to his parents, Michael Otis Hemmer and Helen Edith Reddicks, Jim is also preceded in death by his son, James Hemmer, Jr.
Here to carry on his memory is his adoring wife of 55 years, Linda Hemmer; daughter Merry Hagan (Donald); grandchildren Calli Hagan (Tyler), Kari Hagan (Michael), Dylan Hemmer (Angel), Stephanie Hemmer; great-grandchildren Addison Hagan, Willow Manning, and Inari Young; a brother Michael Lee Hemmer (Dorothy); and a host of in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was a softball and baseball coach, a special olympics coach, and involved in the Boy Scouts with his son. He loved to raise rabbits, granting him his nickname of "Rabbit". He retired from Phillip Morris as a machinist. Jimmy was an avid Trinity fan and enjoyed fishing, car racing, wrestling, and spending his time with his family.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY 40218. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel on Monday morning, June 3, 2024. Jimmy will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
