James “Jim” Wendell Ray Jr., 67, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born on January 30, 1953 in Watertown, New York to the late James & Gloria Ray Sr. Jim was the coach of the Wendell’s Boys softball team for many years, during that time he made a tremendous difference in many of the young men’s lives. He treated them as if they were his own sons. He was an avid fan of the U of L Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds. He was also a member of Parkland Baptist Church. His son Bradley Ray, mother and father-in-law, James and Helen Harris precede Jim in death. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of forty-seven years, Belinda Harris Ray, son, Doug Ray, grandchildren, Cassidy Stearman, Jackson Ray, Caden Ray, sisters, Debbie Meade(Glen), Jennifer Ray-Powell, brother Ron Ray(Debbie), and a host of many other family members and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 2-8pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home-Okolona, 8519 Preston Hwy. Louisville, Kentucky 40219. Funeral services will be Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11am, with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Parkland Baptist Church. In order to adhere to public health requirements, family members and friends are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times during the services.
