James "Sonny" Allen Lawson, Sr., age 70, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024. Sonny was born to the late Goldie P. and James M. Lawson in Louisville, Kentucky, where he found a love for horse racing. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and in his free time, enjoyed watching car races, gambling, and cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events. Sonny was the kind of person who would selflessly help others with no hesitation.
Here to cherish his memory are his wife, Vickie Lynn Lawson, children; James A. Lawson (Lily), and Tye M. Lawson (Stephanie), beloved grandchildren; Tre, Layla, Jackson, and Knox Lawson. His siblings; Lillie Rawlins, Mary Murray, Linda Sue Murray (Norma), Bonnie Searcy, Brenda Woods (Larry), Larry Lawson (Diane), Wanda Corfield, Paul Lawson, and step-mother Lois Lawson.
A visitation for Sonny will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, Kentucky 40206. A second visitation will occur Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a Celebration of Sonny's Life to follow in the chapel of the funeral home.
