He was a Navy WWII veteran and worked for the City of Louisville as a Lieutenant Firefighter. He retired as a Firefighter Guard for I.C.I. Americas.
Jim was a member of American Legion G.I. Joe Post #244. He was baptized and joined Southeast Christian Church this past year.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Flora "Midge" Batts; daughters, Shannon Caffee (Bobby) and Barbara Majka (John); grandchildren, Bob Taylor, Melissa Jacobs (Matt), Stacy Bathrick (Cary), Stefanie Peterson (Jason), Jason Zachary, Andrew Caffee, Kaelyn Caffee, Megann Broadway, Joshua Broadway (Michelle), Jon Broadway (Jennifer); 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, John Batts who resides in Lexington.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Jim at 12pm Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven with Rev. Tom Schreiner officiating. There will be a graveside service to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-8pm on Friday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the donors charity of choice.
