James Franklin Perkins, 73, of Prospect, KY, passed away Thursday September 25, 2014. He was born February 4, 1941, in Williamsburg, KY, where he was raised. He attended Long Beach City college, graduated from Cumberland College, and got his masters from Western KY University. He moved to Louisville in 1964 and worked at Pleasure Ridge Park High School, first as a Biology teacher for 10 years, and then as a counselor 22 years. He did wedding photography as a second job. He was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Thomas Eugene Perkins, Charles Everett Perkins, and Edgar Raymond Perkins.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Choate Perkins; two daughters Patricia Elaine Anderson (Breck) of Hebron, KY and Stacy Perkins (Teresa McClure) of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Brynnan Anderson and Brooklyn Anderson; a brother, Phillip Perkins of Williamsburg, KY and a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Paley of Torrance, CA.
Services to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2800 Frankfort Ave. Visitation will be 3 to 8:00 pm Sunday, at Arch L. Heady-Cralle, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Burial will be private.
