Jim, a Vietnam Veteran, and recipient of the Purple Heart, was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was employed in the transportation logistics industry. He was an avid reader and enjoyed telling stories to his daughters and granddaughters. He spent his time golfing with friends, fishing at Camp Oh-No, and trading witty remarks with his buddies at the local pub. At home he could be found in his garden, or cooking in the kitchen. His sarcastic sense of humor will be missed by all.
Jim was preceded in passing by his parents, George and Erma, and his brother Joseph Roth.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rachel Grant; daughters, Jessica Smith (Tom) and Dr. Nicole Roth (Graham Thompson); two granddaughters, Alysa and Kaitlyn Smith; siblings, Tom, Jack (Vickie), Mary Lynn, Rita, Bob (Jackie), Sharon Veitch (Roger), George (Tina), and Therese Brown (Gerry); and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19 from 4 to 8 PM at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at the Altenheim Senior Home for their loving care of Jim.
