
Jim was born June 3, 1927 to the late John C. and Mary A Zickel. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and with the Army in the Korean conflict.
Jim retired in March 1981 from the old International Harvester Company with 33 years of experience. After retirement he became an avid gardener, growing a large variety of vegetables especially tomatoes, which he was proud of. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, May, of 55 years; three children, Sandy Binford (Mike), Peggy Cecil (Billy) and Jimmy; a brother, John R. Zickel; two grandchildren, Shannon and Travis Cecil; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Zickel will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Funeral Home with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.
