Janice (“Jan”) Mary Janocik (Luehrs), born in Milwaukee, WI on August 11, 1940 passed away June 30, 2025 after a chronic illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick G. Luehrs and Gladys Luehrs, husband of 58 years, Dennis W. Janocik, grand daughter Sarah Janocik and brother-in-law Ronald Richards. She is survived by her sons Jeff (Brenda), Mike (Susan), Brian (Renee) Janocik, brothers Frederick Jr., Daniel and Timothy Luehrs and Sister-in-Law Christine Janocik Richards. She was a proud grandmother to Benjamin (Kaitlan), Gloria Lane (Jeremy), Matthew (Alison), Lauren Woosley (Kyle), Mary Beth and Nicholas Janocik; great-grandmother to John, Elijiah, Brady, Maria and Grace Janocik and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jan loved her family above all else and enjoyed spending time with her loving husband and attending the various activities of her children and grandchildren such as baseball, basketball, football music & band performances.
With husband Dennis, Jan enjoyed watching UofL sports, IndyCar racing and the Green Bay Packers. After Dennis passed, her interest in these sports grew and she became the family expert on all these sports. It was a way for her to feel connected to Dennis and her family.
Cruising the seas with Dennis and members of her family and friends were her favorite vacations. Jan enjoyed cooking for her family and her favorite hobby was quilting and embroidering special custom items.
In her younger years, Jan spent summers with her parents working in the family travelling Midwest amusement business and playing the accordion. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and attended Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, WI. After transferring to Louisville, KY in 1968 for Dennis’ job and raising her sons to school age, she returned to the workforce as a secretary at a small real estate company. She advanced in the real estate profession to agent, then broker, then office manager. She became owner and built one of the most successful real estate companies in Louisville when she retired 20 years ago.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, Louisville, KY 40299.
