Januaria A. Chavous

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Januaria A. Chavous. Born on March 17, 1941, to the late Honorio and Magdalena M. Abrasaldo in Leyte, Philippines, she quietly departed this life on the morning of Friday, February 20, 2026, at her residence in Louisville, Kentucky, with her daughter, Stephanie, by her side.

Januaria and Donald Chavous, Sr. began their journey together sixty-four years ago, marrying on December 27, 1961, in Angeles Pampanga, Philippines. Their life together took them from Japan, where their son Donald Jr. was born, to Florida, where their daughter Stephanie was born, and eventually to Paoli, Pennsylvania. For the last fifty-six years, they have called Louisville, Kentucky, their home.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and many cherished memories. She is survived by her husband, Donald Chavous, Sr.; her sons, Jerry Clark and Donald Chavous, Jr. (Michelle); and her daughters, Bella "April" Doolin (Mike) and Stephanie Clark. She is also remembered by her 8 grandchildren: Chris, Kat, Nicole (Jeff), Tiffany, Apryll, Arielle, Andre', and Alyssa; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law, Alfred Chavous, David Chavous (Brenda), Harold Chavous, and Marvin Chavous; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Robinson, Diani Brown, and Sonja Brown; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral service will be 2pm, Friday, February 27, 2026 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40218.

Visitation will be held 11-2pm Friday, February 27, 2026 at the same venue.
