Jaya was born in Mumbai, India on August 4, 1940. Jaya received degree in Social Work from Baroda University. Jaya moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1972 and became a naturalized US Citizen in 1977. Jaya and her husband owned Tibbs Pharmacy in Atlanta for over 30 years. Jaya took great pleasure in gardening. Her yard was immaculately landscaped with numerous flowers and trees.
Jaya was proceeded in death by her husband, Dr. J.W. Tibbs, Jr, her parents Ishwarlal Sheth and Chandravaliben Sheth, her bothers Anil Sheth, Subhas Sheth and Bharat Sheth.
Jaya is survived by her son Krsna (Dara) of Louisville, grandson Xavier, brother Kirit (Purinama) Sheth of Columbus, GA, sister Geeta Lakshmandas of Chennai and several nieces and nephews.
Jaya’s funeral will be Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at Arch L Heady, Westport Road in Louisville. There will be a Hindu ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and a visitation prior to the funeral at 10:30 am. The services, including the Hindu ceremony and the funeral, will be live streamed on Facebook live.
