She was born to the late Mary Margaret and Urban Beierle. Her husband, Dee Barney of 43 years preceded her in death as well as her sister, Betty and brother-in-law, Bud Adams.
Jean was a talented dancer and met her husband on the dance floor at Colonial Gardens. They continued their passion of dance by competing in contests at Colonial Gardens and Fountain Ferry Park, where they won many trophies. Jean and Dee got married in 1960, and was blessed with three sons; Chris, Casey, and Craig. After marriage, Dee and Jean loved to travel to many places and camped along the way. She was an avid sports fan, especially University of Kentucky. Her passion for sports started by watching her three boys play sports, especially football.
Here to cherish her memory are her three boys; Chris Barney (Lee Anne), Casey Barney (Angela), and Craig Barney (Robin), six grandchildren; Meaghan (John), Patrick (Molly), Cody, Johnny (Anna), Samantha, Isabella, four great-grandchildren; Parker, Kaylee, Jackson, Maisie, and one on the way "Brody", and sister, Mary Lynn Dontchos (Leo), along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will occur on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 4-9PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218. A Celebration of Jean's life will take place in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10AM. Jean will be laid to rest within Saint Michael Cemetery, 1153 Charles St. Louisville, KY 40204.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean's honor to Hosparus and the American Cancer Society.
