Jean was born on Valentine's Day 1930, the only child of the late Flora Elsie Petway Harrison and Clarence William Harrison.
She was a 1948 graduate of Anchorage High School and attended the former Bryant-Stratton College of Business.
Jean was an accomplished saddlebred horse rider. And, at the 1946 Kentucky State Fair Horse Show, at age 16, she won the Equitation-The Good Hands Championship Class (after placing second the year before). Jean won over 75 Blue Ribbons in horse show classes at Rock Creek, Shelbyville, Lexington, the Kentucky State Fair and others.
At age 18, while working as an outrider at Brentlawn Raceway, the former trotting track, Jean met her future husband John L. Knopf, Sr., a young law student working part-time as a track timer. After marriage, Jean worked for Eastern Airlines at the airport as a secretary. While her husband built his successful law practice, Jean fully devoted herself to raising and lovingly shaping the lives of their three children.

Myers, FL), where she was a member. She also was a life-long antique collector and was co-owner of the antique store Old & New 1052. Jean enjoyed travel and was a sport fan of the University of Louisville.
She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family.
Jean is survived by her son John L. Knopf, Jr. (Carole) (Jupiter, FL), granddaughters Samantha & Celeste (Brooklyn, NY);
