

Jerry S. Claycomb, 88 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026. He was a 1956 graduate of Louisville Male High School and attended the University of Louisville. He retired from Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Anson Industries.
Growing up, Jerry was a boy scout and loved going to Scout Camp. During his time at Male High School, Jerry was in Glee Club. When he was a senior at Male High School, Jerry purchased his class ring himself. He worked after school at a grocery, drug store and cut grass so he could afford it. He wore that ring every day of his life.
Jerry was a member of numerous organizations, such as: an active member of the Okolona Church of Christ, past President of the Prairie Basketball League, Treasurer of the basketball league, chair person of Louisville Personal Association, Vice-President of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Vice-President of Derby City Corvair Club, an United States Army Veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, and a Honorary Captain of the Belle of Louisville.
A creative soul, Jerry enjoyed painting antique saws and gourds and making quilts. He played the dulcimer and was in a club that would perform at nursing homes for the residents. He enjoyed traveling and taking photos of his family, friends, and his adventures. Jerry could be described as someone who never met a stranger. He loved to be around people and would almost always run into someone he knew no matter where he went.
He is preceded in death by his son: Kent S. Claycomb.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years: M. Diane Claycomb; his daughter-in-law: Mary Ryan Claycomb; along with the many friends he has made through the years.
Visitation will be held 2-7 PM Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218 and will resume Monday, July 6 from 10-12 PM. A service to honor Jerry will begin at 12 PM Monday, July 6 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
