Jimmie Marie Dillman of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord on Feb. 22, at Riverbend Assisted Living. She was a former member of Southside Baptist Church, in Louisville, and a current member of Oak Park Baptist Church, in Jeffersonville. She was sixth-born to Willie Coleman Coffey and Susan Ellen Hancock Coffey in Cooper, Kentucky, in historic Wayne County, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Robert Samuel Dillman (“Bob”), her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Thomas (Rich) of Jeffersonville, three grandchildren, Jeff Thomas (Corey) of Zionsville, IN, April Hill (Brandon) of Charlestown, IN, and Brett Thomas, of Crestwood, KY, and four great-grandchildren, Anna, Sophia, Sydney, and Savannah. She is survived also by many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her as a source of family stories of days gone by. She was a retiree of South Central Bell, having been a long-distance telephone operator for many years, and retiring as an Engineering Assistant in 1983. She spent her earlier years employed by Sears in Louisville, and Ken-Rad in Owensboro, KY. She was a graduate of Daviess County High School, class of 1938, Owensboro, KY.
Jimmie Marie was a joiner, and enjoyed existing clubs or making up her own, doing crafts, sewing, ceramics, and games with many of her friends. She was a traveler who had been in all 48 continental states, Mexico, and several provinces in Canada. Jimmie Marie had many wonderful caregivers, for which we are grateful. She was loved by everyone, and had recently received over 120 cards for her 100th birthday. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm Friday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday.
