She was born July 1, 1926 in Ashland, KY the daughter of Alvah Wayland and Georgia (McNeal) Morris.
Jo attended EKU, where she worked as a librarian and first spotted Tom Douglas, the love of her life. She was also a realtor for 20 years. She was a long-time member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She assisted Tom in his dental practice, raised 5 active children and was passionate about DAR and her genealogy research.
Survivors include her five children, Marilyn Sears (Tommy), Tad Douglas (Kathy), Don Douglas (Cheryl), Harris Douglas (Melanie), Carole Christian (Rob); ten grandchildren, Emily, Patrick, Eric, Elizabeth, Kelly, Stephanie, Erin, Will, Graham, and Kyndal; 14 great-grandchildren; and other special family members, Lisa and Kelsey Morris and Ellen Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dr. Thomas A. Douglas; a brother, Winston Morris; and granddaughter, Amzie Smith.
A special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of Brownsboro Park, her Hosparus team and caregivers Ellen, Anita and Rhonda.
A service to celebrate Jo’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 8, 2021 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM on Sunday and also from 9AM until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
