Jo Marilyn Montesi Rexroat Love was born April 23, 1944 in Owensboro, KY to Henry J. “Monty” Montesi and Mary “Clemy” Clementine Clary. Jo grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Holy Rosary Academy in 1962. She worked for G.E. for 30 years and retired in 1999. Jo attended Southeast Christian Church 2020-2021 online.
Jo had a passion for genealogy and kept a family site on Ancestry.com. She has logged over ten thousand names on her site and was instrumental in pairing up a long-lost sister, Denise Townsend to her son-in-law’s family. Denise remained close to Jo and visited her often before her death.
In 1962, Jo married Jerry E. Rexroat and later divorced. She is survived by their children, Anthony “Tony” Rexroat, Angela Zimmerman and Niccolette “Nicky” Totten and their spouses. She has four grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Sidra; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Heather and Krissa and one great step-grandchild, Makya.
Jo later married Raymond L. Love in 1989 and is survived by four stepchildren and several step-grandchildren. After Raymond passed in 2001, she moved to Jacksonville, Illinois and remained there with her mother and sisters until returning to the Louisville area in 2020 after her ALS diagnosis. She lived the rest of her days in New Albany, IN with her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Joel.
She is also survived by her loving sisters Carol Dennison and Veronica “Ronnie” Meyer, both of Jacksonville, IL, and half brothers Walter and Jeff and half sister Kitty, as well as her cousin Pat Buckingham, other precious family members, and her lifelong dearest friend, Gerri Allender.
Jo’s body was cremated and placed beside her loving husband at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Adaptive Hospice Foundation in Jeffersonville, Indiana, a charity that was close to Jo’s heart because of their amazing Hospice services from 2020 to her death.
A celebration of life memorial and reception will be held on Saturday, November 27 at 3pm at the home of Joel and Angela Zimmerman, 907 Falcon Run in New Albany. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to that address. (Note: This is a corrected date from November 20th)
