

Joanne “JoJo” Dearing, 91 of Louisville, passed away peacefully October 12, 2022, at the home of her granddaughter. She was born on December 5, 1930, in Okolona, daughter of the late James and Mary Jane Garr Ferring.
Joanne graduated from Okolona High School and attended the University of Kentucky.
Joanne and her husband, Donald Dearing, celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. They spent the early years of their marriage living in Anchorage, AK and Alamogordo, New Mexico during Don’s Air Force career.
Joanne was active member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and was formerly a member of Okolona Baptist Church. She was a teacher’s assistant at Overdale Elementary School.
She enjoyed cheering for the University of Kentucky basketball team. She enjoyed traveling. She loved most of all spending time with family and friends and her dog, Scruffy.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmie Ferring (Charlotte); niece, Lea Ann Kamer and great nephew, Jay Baker.
Joanne is survived by her daughters, Dona Adkisson (L.H.), Lisa Raisor (Greg); sister, Lois Jean Morgan; granddaughter, Crystal Kinser (Amy); grandson, David Derringer (Anna); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation to honor the life of Joanne will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home & Cremation Services (8519 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40219). A service to honor the life of Joanne will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Joanne will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
