He was born February 21, 1959 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Marvin and Bernice (Wessel) Nivens.
Joel worked in Asset Protection for over 25 years. After retirement, he became an employee, and continued to be an avid golfer, at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
Joel was a devoted, loving husband to his wife Shelly of 42 years; father to Amanda Golden (Kyle) and Joel Nivens Jr. (Ava); Grandpa to Lucas and Carson Golden, who were his pride and joy; brother to Joyce Harrell (Tedd) and Joann Levereing. He also cherished many other close family and friends.
A service to honor Joel’s life will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, February 24, 2022 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his grandchildren’s education fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
