John R. Downey Sr.
DOWNEY, JOHN R. SR., 71, of Louisville, returned to his heavenly Father, Monday, January 14, 2008, with loved ones at his side. He was born August 31, 1936, in Louisville, to the late James and Helen Downey. He was formally employed by CCC of Louisville and was a National Guard veteran. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Summers Downey; his daughters, Bobbie Davis and Susie Colvin (David); his son, John R. "Ricky" Downey Jr.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of John's life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Southern of home of Arch L. Heady and son, 3601 Taylor Blvd., with burial to follow in the Resthaven cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. -8 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
