(1937 – 2021)
John William Hare Sr. was born in Glasgow, Ky in 1937 to Walter and Sallie Hare. He peacefully went home to worship his Lord and Savior for eternity on December 3, 2021. John was a graduate of Louisville Male High School’s class of 1955 and completed his associate degree at Bellarmine University. John was married to Jenny Hare for 48 years and they had four children; Theresa L. Kinslow. (Jim Kinslow), John W. Hare Jr. (Angie Hare), Ricky E. Hare, and David A. Hare (Margaret Hare). In 2004, he married Joyce Hare. He then happily gained four more children Steve Price, Antonia Padron (Pat Padron), Karen Ahoor (Roy), and Lisa Watson. John and Joyce were blessed with 17 years of marriage. John was an active member at Wellman Wesleyan and Highland Park Wesleyan churches for more than 50 years. He spent the majority of his professional career impacting those around him, sharing Christ with those he worked with and achieving an unmatched dedicated work ethic at Southern Standard and Dawn Food Company where he retired in 2000. John’s life and character was marked by being a caretaker of others and helping anyone he could, often even moving them into his home. Throughout Jenny’s illness and in his marriage to Joyce, John continued to prove his ability to love everyone well! His love of music is third only to his love of Christ and his family. John’s love of music led him to play his bass for anyone that would like to listen. John spent many years playing at local places including community events, the State Fair, the annual Hare Christmas party, and nursing facilities. His love of music brought joy, smiles, and dancing to those listening. John would be happy to share how he loved Jesus and how his relationship with Jesus changed his life. That would be quickly followed with sharing about his family. John was met at the gates of heaven by wife Jenny Hare; sons Ricky Hare, Eddie Price, Steve Price, and Phillip Price; brothers Walter Lowell Hare, Carol Hare, and Jerry Hare; his grandson Stephen Hare and his parents Walter and Sallie Hare, whom he looked forward to seeing again. John is survived by his wife Joyce Hare; daughters Theresa Kinslow, Antonia Padron, Karen Ahoor, and Lisa Watson; Sons John Hare Jr., and David Hare; sisters Dorothy Wiggington (Don-deceased) and Bonnie Gary(Wayne); Sisters-in-law Carol Jean Hare and Linda Hare; and brother Norman Hare Sr.(Linda).
