John Adam Hertle “Poppie” 92 passed peacefully in his sleep, August 17, 2013. He was born on August 12, 1921 in Louisville, KY. He is the beloved husband of 60 years to Betsy Saulsbury Hertle, who cared for him for the last years of his life.
He was a US Army veterans of WW II, a retired Supervisor of Agency Accounting for L & N Railroad. He volunteered as a Santa for the Kosair Children’s hospital, and for other organizations.
He is the loving father of Sue Anne Conley, and Cindy Muncie (Jim). Poppie will greatly be missed by his grandchildren; Lauren, Allie and Betsy Conley, Mary Frazier, Annie, Bailey, Carley Bartlett, and John Adam Muncie. Great-grandson; Carter Michael. His sister; Patsy Temple, and a niece and 2 nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Adam and Anna, a brother, and 5 sisters, and his son-in-law.
Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Tuesday in the parlor of Arch L. Heady at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. with a service to celebrate John’s life at 11:30 Wednesday at, Woodland Baptist Church, 809 N. Pope Rd.
